Band geek

I was a band geek and I'm not afraid to admit it. Our halftime shows were pretty much like this:

Or maybe I'm not remembering them correctly? They certainly didn't consist of poorly dressed girls (and a mom) running around waving flags intermittently while half the band marched one direction and half the band stood still. And we never wore hats that looked like Q-tips. And it definitely didn't end with spit wads in Lori's tuba.

So yes, I'm pretty sure we looked like this:

As for what I'm doing....

Last night I was busy for about 45 minutes scurrying around to move the furniture out of the living/dining areas in preparation for new carpet install. When I finished and walked through the kitchen I happened to catch Josie with her hands in the candy dish and asked her what she was doing. Still trying to decipher her answer....

"Mom, you should really stop sneaking up on people. And you know I'm seven and can be left alone for a while. Worry about yourself. As for what I was doing, I was doing nothing."

Did I just get schooled by a seven year old?

A haunting we will go!

A few weeks ago a group of us ventured out on a haunted trolley tour. We visited cemeteries, a haunted theater, a haunted hotel (for a story and potty breaks) and ended with Fright at the Farm. The tour included a paranormal expert from After Hours Paranormal Investigations who provided commentary along with the driver. We even tried to talk to spirits in a cave....and they answered (or something like that).

A few of us ready to start the tour!

Spirits! Either that or my camera needed cleaning....

Take one

Take two (much better)

Jill is ready for zombies!

Spirits! Or improper use of the night setting on my camera....

And a good old Irishman to end the night!

It was a fun tour with a fun group of people! I've never laughed so hard in my life!

She's TERRIFIC!

Josie had a great day yesterday! Her favorite lunch, her favorite book, a visit to the Principal's office (for something good), an award at the school assembly and a note from her teacher.

She seems to be handling first grade just fine!

The awfulest day!

Josie informed me that she had the awfulest day ever. Why you ask? Because kids were talking during math time and ruined her math homework.

She's definitely my kid!

Hopefully a picnic at the park cheered her up a bit.

Here's your sign

Brent and I came up the stairs and found a note. Apparently we're going on a search!

To mom and dad- search hunt for post it notes

The first direction of arrows led us to this cute little kitty. (Ok Josie- we got the hint!)

Then the arrows reversed until we found the final prize.

Have a seat mom and dad

The prize at the end!

Hint, hint

Josie did a real vs. fantasy pet project at school. I think she's trying to tell us we need a new cat.....

Real: a cat
Fantasy: a flying blue cat

Ok, so you miss Figgy. We do too! Soon enough my child, soon enough.
